On the 30th and 31st of May 2024, the 9th Global Pharmacovigilance & RWE Forum was held in the Hilton London Kensington. This conference was part of the Pharmacovigilance World Tour by Why Summits conference organisers.
Pharmora Principal Scientist John O’Brien was one of the panel speakers, and his colleagues, Tom and Swetha, attended to support him and to listen to the interesting presentations. Pharmora was an “Associate Exhibitor”, which meant we had a stand with banners advertising our services, and some freebies to give away, including sweets – which went down a treat!
Our scientists found the topics of the talks, and the discussions they sparked, to be very interesting, in particular the focus on Real-World Evidence (RWE) and what it means for pharmacovigilance.
Some of the standout topics of discussion were the use of AI in safety (see our CMO’s timely blog on the topic!) and safety signals with data and risk management.
The topics for over the two days included:
- Risk Management Toolbox 2024
- MHRA Updates
- Vaccine Safety – back and beyond COVID-19
- Sharing experiences in the safety of novel immunotherapies
- Real-time surveillance and Early Warning Systems
- Power of Intradepartmental and external collaborations
- Consequences of centralization of PV processes
- Challenges of communication with HCPs – biggest opportunities for meaningful impact
- Future of Drug Safety Profession
John O’Brien took part as a panel member in the session on signal detection, where he was able to use his wealth of industry knowledge and expertise to illustrate the topic, using examples from his experience.
This conference has given Pharmora the inspiration for several future blogs on these topics: stay tuned for more!
